• Feasibility study & design concept

• This project involved the master planning and visualization of a mixed-use destination located in a former industrial area of North Charleston. The design sought to transform the site into a vibrant waterfront community, blending public spaces, commercial uses, and recreational opportunities.

  A key focus—and one of the most exciting design challenges—was how to thoughtfully engage the water’s edge. Rather than defaulting to a conventional linear boardwalk, the concept envisioned a dynamic waterfront experience. The boardwalk was designed with a series of protruding lookout points and platforms that extend into the water, creating unique moments of pause, interaction, and visual connection with the surrounding environment. These gestures enhance the visitor’s experience and help redefine the relationship between the community and the waterfront.
